I tried copying the URL of the non-mobile site and using this was able to get to sort of the right page but then it uses a frame that I needed to scroll down to which doesn't really work in the iPhone Safari browser. So I went for the easy option and just set the nameservers to match the ones provided by the hosting company. I've done this now, so I'm just going to have dinner while it propagates. FYI I just used the GoDaddy app for this, but the mobile site looked just as easy.

I seem to have landed my self in hospital for a few days. So I thought I'd set myself a challenge whilst I'm here.
I'm going to attempt to build a complete website from scratch using just an iPhone and it's 3G connection. Not only am I going to do this, but I'm also going to show you how to register private nameservers, which has an advantage for SEO in addition to an extra level of security against server attacks.

So the first step is to go the App Store and download the GoDaddy app. This free and you can set up your account very quickly. You can either choose to pay for domains by card or PayPal, which is cool.

Once you have done this just check your domain for availability and buy it. .com domains are generally less than $10/yr. I usually buy one for 1 year and then as long as I've made at least $100 in that year, I'll probably renew it for about 5 years next time. I just do this because sometimes I have bought a domain which Google just refuses to index, so if I can't make it with Bing and Yahoo alone I sometimes ditch it.

OK I've downloaded the App – bought estartitrentals.com and just waiting about 10 mins for it to become active. Next time I'll set up some hosting for it.

I'm just making Serre Chevalier Services for my mate Aaron Creed who has just done tons of work on my chalet. I'm gonna do a step by step on how to get it indexed quickly.

I'll document this in a few blog posts so if you want to keep up-to-date Follow my Blog.

I have registered a domain name at www.GoDaddy.com I went for keyword.com which in this case is serrechevalierservices.com

Generally, keywordphrase.com will rank better than keywordphrase.org which will rank better than keyword-phrase.com – bear this in mind. Personally I don't have much luck in the way of results with .info or .net etc. Try and get the .com!

I set up some hosting at webhostforseo.com and changed the nameservers at GoDaddy to point to the new domain.

I used Fantastico to quickly install a new copy of Wordpress.

I used Filezilla and FTP'd a new installation of the Semiologic Pro Wordpress Theme.

I made a post to check everything is OK.

The next thing we need to do is to update the ping list – watch this space!

at this point in time – I go to Google.com and search for site:www.serrechevalierservices.com

the reply is:

Your search – site:www.serrechevalierservices.com – did not match any documents.

The site is NOT Indexed so I need to work more.

Yesterday I was experimenting with using a Blogger Blog with my own domain name, and this worked fine. I called the domain www.lykkelimp3.com with the intention of focusing it around the phrase 'lykke li mp3'. My main intention was to sell MP3s of Lykke Li's music, so I went to Amazon Partners to look at setting up some affiliate links. However they have a new MP3 Widget which is wicked, I just picked out the lykke li mp3 tracks that I wanted to sell and constructed a widget that is totally compatible with Blogger. So how wicked is this? For the price of a domain name (about $10 from GoDaddy) – I have a very useful blog to use as a platform to sell Lykke Li mp3 files.

Blogger is actually well cool as you can also 'burn your RSS feed' to make a Feedburner RSS Feed for this particular blog. The advantages of this are numerous, but the important thing to remember is that last year Google bought Feedburner.

Dance Dance Dance

Little Bit

Time Flies

Everybody but me

So there you go, the next time somebody asks you to make them a website, just tell them to go make a Blogger Blog!

For more information about Lykke Li, have a look at the blog: Lykke Li MP3

I have just decided to try and market some music by the Swedish singer Lykke Li, so I bought a domain name www.lykkelimp3.com with the intention of just forwarding it to an Amazon Lykke Li MP3 download offer. But then it occoured to me that I had bought a domain name with GoDaddy, so I could set up a Blogger blog and then use that as my 'authority site'. Here's how:

Buy a domain name using GoDaddy (they are about 10 bucks a year)

Log in to your account at www.godaddy.com.

Open the Domains tab and select My Domain Names. You'll be directed to the Domain Manager page.

Click the domain that you'd like to use with your blog.

Click the Total DNS Control And MX Records link at the bottom of the section entitled Total DNS.

Click Add New CNAME Record in the box labelled CNAMES (aliases). If you've already created a CNAME record for your blog's address, click the pencil icon next to the existing CNAME record.

For the Name, enter only the subdomain of the address you want to use for your blog. For example, if you picked
www.mydomain.com
as your address, enter
www
here.

Enter
ghs.google.com
as the Host Name. Specify a TTL or use the default setting of 1 hour.

Click OK, and then click OK again.

I've just done this with Lykke Li MP3 so I'll let you know what happens
