UK based motorhome hire company Motorhome Freedom provides rental motorhomes and campervans throughout England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The company have decided to help out a group of climbers who are doing a charity climb of the Grand Pic de la Meije in the Southern French Alps. The climbers are being lead by mountaineer Michael Swale who is very enthusiastic about helping out in the Yemen crisis. Michael Swale said, “We became aware of the crisis in Yemen through an american friend of ours who has been doing a lot of volunteer work in Yemen on the Arabian Peninsula as well as throughout the Sahel in Africa. We became particularly distressed about the level of malnutrition in the babies of Yemen. We did a charity climb a few years ago to help out disabled skiers so we thought we would plan another climb for 2013 to raise money for Yemen. We were looking for ways to transport ourselves out to France and have a base in the Alps, when I bumped into one of the guys from Motorhome Freedom who offered to provide us with a motorhome for the duration of our trip.”
A representative from Motorhome Freedom, Ash Strain also commented, “In the past year or so we have been radically upgrading the hire fleet (which is now more than 700 motorhomes) which means that we can spare one for Michael’s trip in 2013, normally from Easter onwards we are totally booked out, but now we have hundreds of new motorhomes we will be OK until the peak summer months”.
Michael and the team are planning their climb for the beginning of May, but spring comes late in that part of The Alps so although they would love to make it the first weekend in May, they are happy to be flexible with their dates.
Motorhome Freedom are providing a Swift Sundance 590RS which is a 5 berth motorhome.
