Serre Chevalier Ski Lessons
Serre Chevalier Ski Lessons by Ski Connections. No, you are not about to have a ski lesson online, that would be daft! However while you are here, you could book your Serre Chevalier ski lessons online with Ski Connections. Over the past 2 years I have a had many ski lessons in Serre Chevalier with Ski Connections mainly with Davina Charignon who is awesome ski instructor. I have always found Davina’s lessons very entertaining so I asked her to write something about tips to improve skiing to go on this site, here’s one:
“A good stance is fundamental to being well balanced. As you travel down the slopes your stance should change depending on terrain, turn shape and changes in speed. Your stance should not depend on a certain style or look you would like to achieve. It should depend upon your morphology, gender, level and your character. All good functional skiing stances should be strong and energy efficient.
Many people are too crouched when they ski. They believe that a low position will make them more stable. This is true to a certain extent, being low is okay sometimes, but not crouching. In general people bend their knees and this places their weight too far back, therefore making them not very well balanced. This combined with a steeper slope makes you often feel rather unsafe, it also gives you bad thigh burn. Your bones are there to give you support, not your muscles.
Keep your feet apart, about hip width. Try and keep your ankles, knees and hips all equally flexed. Hands should remain in front of you about hip height. Your bottom should be tucked under if you can, you should not have a hollow back. However when you ski do not think about your body posture all the time or it will make you a stiff and rigid. To improve your posture try jumping off a few small bumps; do not try to get lots of air, but make sure that when you land your weight is in the middle of your foot. You can feel your shins on the fronts of your boots.”
Serre Chevalier Ski Lessons can be booked online or by phone, but please do book well in advance of your Serre Chevalier holiday as Serre Chevalier Ski Schools do get very booked up during busy periods.
