The England's on Fire SEO Answer

This is my answer to Pete Lennon's question:

  1. First thing to do is goto myspace.com and set up an account
  2. Use the blog to promote your song (eg my blog is here http://blog.myspace.com/ricklomas )
  3. Go to myspace groups and join one about something you are passionate about…cricket or music maybe?
  4. Get active in the group and mention your song all the time.
  5. Put a low res version of your tune on myspace with links on how to buy the full version (although see my last point about my opinion on this)
  6. Get as many friends as possible (I am here http://www.myspace.com/ricklomas)
  7. If you have a mysql database on your server set up www.wordpress.org on there and blog from there, I can give you advice on how to set that up for the best SEO (search engine optimization) and then blog regularly.
  8. sign up for my free ebooks and I will give you advice on how to get traffic, make money from your website and much more
  9. I can supply you with some keyphrase lists generated from wordtracker that will help with your keyword strategy. Using these can be as easy as writing a blog entry with the keyphrase as the title (as long as wordpress is set with options>Customize Permalink Structure>name based)
  10. make a mailing list, I personally use aweber (it's a bit expensive though) to create lists that I can mail in bulk (saves any spam accusations and automates a lot of things), so that you can keep in touch with people easily. I know of a guy who has 4000 people on his list and one night he had a bit of an idea, I think it was 500keywords.com (which is fairly useless), but then basically sold single words with a link to the purchaser's site. He made $20,000 in one day! This brings me to my last point…
  11. Personally, I would give the song away for free, in return for someone signing up to your list, this would increase traffic to your site which you could monetize using adsense (see the link in the top right hand corner of this blog), then when you write your next song you can just do an email broadcast and tell them to listen to and buy your new song.

replying to your email has made quite a good entry for my blog (which also gives you an idea of how you can use blogs to make money etc) so…
I don't need paying, but if you could put this link somewhere on your site (the more prominent the better for me!) it would be most appreciated:

"Many thanks for the keyword strategy and SEO advice from Rick Lomas, the author of The making money internet business web site"

Hope this helps, I'll look into the keyphrases later on

    Rick Lomas
