Personal Best (Swimming & Alcohol)

Personal Best:

OK I didn’t really do anything yesterday so I thought I better pull the stops out today…however, what with looking after Maddy etc etc we didn’t get much of a break at all today.   Sue reached her ‘personal best’ the other day by swimming 22 lengths and she did it again today. My ‘personal best’ was 26 so today I did 30 today to make up for doing bugger all yesterday.  30 is 600m so at least I have broken the half kilometre psychological boundary next stop 1km.

But mm Alcohol; I love it! There is no getting away from it; I do like being a bit pissed. We had a San Miguel each with lunch, just 25cl, but it wasn’t quite enough so we split a 3rd one between us. Then we all had a bit of a siesta, and then woke up a bit thirsty.   We’d not had the legendary Camping Vinarós Gin & Tonics yet, so we did. An hour later we were getting hungry so I went back to the caravan to make a chicken curry and kind of found a nice bottle of red wine to drink whilst cooking and with the meal. Maddy was getting restless during the meal so we had to go to the bar so she could have an ice cream and we could drink some coffee and some large Soberanos. Soberano is a lovely Spanish brandy, that is 7.50€ in the shops for a litre or 1.50€ for a stupidly large portion at Camping Vinarós Bar. When we got back to the caravan I finished off the wine and poured myself a Soberano, at this point Sue reminded me where all the calories came from. She’s absolutely right, this has to stop soon, but not until we get home.

As we speak, we are talking about leaving Sunday, so that is just 4 days left, I can’t believe we have been away nearly 4 weeks.

Conclusion about today is, no shit food, but a bit boozy. No major cycling, but some good swimming.
